Two-thirds of Warren Woods Natural Area’s 328 acres consist of a beech/maple climax forest. A quiet hiking trail leads over a bridge that looks over the rustic Galien River in this undisturbed natural area.

Warren Woods Natural Area is the last known stand of virgin beech-maple forest in southern Michigan. The site contains outstanding individual specimens of sycamore, beech, maple, and other northern hardwoods.
