Phone number indicated above is for the Traverse City Management Unit. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. 26 sites for tent and small trailer use. Located on the Platte River near the Platte River Hatchery. Excellent canoeing and trout fishing. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore provides over 30 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline including dunes, cliffs, rocky points, and protected bays offering wildlife viewing of white tailed deer, wild turkeys, hawks, river otters, prairie warblers, waterfowl such as goldeneyes and buffleheads, and colorful blooms of spring wild flowers (11 miles West).
Campground is accessible by water. Canoeing opportunities on the Platte River. Nearest canoe rental in Honor (3.5 miles West).
